Dr. Vincent Chao, DDS

Dr. Chao is one half of the talented and compassionate dental duo that makes up Sherwood Family Dentistry. After nearly two decades of working in the dental industry, Dr. Chao still gets a thrill when he helps a patient obtain the perfect smile. His career originally started out on a different path. Dr. Chao graduated with a degree in accounting from the University at Southern California (USC) but found out rather quickly that it was not for him and went back to USC to complete the Dental Program. When he was the only one of 120 students in dental morphology class who could guess the name of the famous person whose smile was projected on the screen (Princess Diana), he knew he had found his true calling and has been passionate about dentistry ever since.

As Your Personal Dentist

  • Dr. Chao started Sherwood Family Dentistry with his friend and former USC classmate, Dr. Erma Craw. From the beginning, Dr. Chao has enjoyed working with his partner, staff and patients so much that he says it hardly feels like work to him! He is committed to helping his patients feel comfortable and takes the time to get to know his patients better so he can provide personalized service to keep them coming back year after year. He is continually looking for the most patient-friendly ways to complete treatment. Dr. Chao is a member of both the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association.
  • In addition to his dental practice with Dr. Craw, Dr. Chao owns several Cold Stone Creamery locations and enjoys building stores from scratch and then selling them to start other locations. His wife assists him on the accounting side and he is training his daughters to also help with the business. When not working in the dental offices or on his ice creamery stores, he likes to spend his time golfing, organic gardening and with his family and friends. A Fullerton resident, Dr. Chao loves living in Orange County especially for its mild weather, beautiful golf courses and having the beaches and mountains nearby.
